Story Board Quilt Squares

Event Type: All Ages
Age Group(s): All Ages
Date: 10/6/2013
Start Time: 2:00 PM
End Time: 4:00 PM
Description:
Quilting is an important traditional art form, passed on generation to generation. It has impacted many artists like Faith Ringgold, whose artwork and story-telling often draw upon quilting traditions. Quilt designs were often used to tell stories, reflect family histories and sometimes to carry messages. Participants will see examples of story-telling quilts and then use fabrics and other materials to create a 9-panel quilt design that tells a story. Please note: this is not a sewing class, and participants will not be stitching designs together! Accommodates up to 30 participants. Ages 8 through adult.
