 Faith Ringgold, an African-American artist, is best known for her large story quilts depicting the African-American experience. Quilt designs were often used to tell stories, reflect family histories, and sometimes to carry messages. After hearing a reading of Ringgold's "Tar Beach", winner of the Coretta Scott King Award for illustration, participants will create their own quilted patterns using origami and construction paper. Accommodates up to 30 participants. Ages 8+
