Suggested ages 4 & older. Meet heroes including military heroes, animal heroes, community heroes, sports heroes & more! Learn how to be a hero! Speakers, books, snacks & crafts! 7/9: Be A Hero Week--What can you do every day to be a hero? If you were a superhero what would be your superpower? 7/16: Heroic Story Week--Heroic survival & rescue at sea. David Jones & Art Higbee were stranded thirty miles off the coast after their boat sank. The harrowing 19 hour ordeal is chronicled in the book "Promising Forecast: A Miracle Rescue at Sea". 7/23: Community Heroes Week--Somers Point fire fighters promote fire safety. 7/30: Animal Hero Week--Bob Boddy, Assistant Chief of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Search and Rescue & some search and rescue K-9s show how they provide, protect & preserve, finding missing or injured people. Also, tips on what to do if you are lost or stranded. 8/6: Military Hero Week--U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Alewine answers questions & provides information about ROTC & other Armed Forces programs.
