Celebrate New Jersey's Makers Day & New Jersey STEM Month at the Woodbridge Main Library on March 26 at 6PM by signing up for our Ukrainian Egg Decorating Workshop for Adults, led by seasoned instructor, Jennifer Santa Maria.

This workshop will take a look into some of the history and traditions surrounding Ukrainian egg decorating also known as, pysanky. Pysanky is a folk tradition customarily passed down through the matriarch of the family. Participants will learn the techniques to make their own egg with the guidance of our instructor. All supplies will be provided. We only ask that you bring a container or old egg carton to take home your creation! Spaces are limited and registration is required! Please note that you must be age 18 or older to participate in this program.

The instructor, Jennifer Santa Maria, has created many beautiful eggs using a modern aesthetic. Her approach to this medium is untraditional in that she explores and experiments with mathematical concepts in her work and enjoys the therapeutic and soulful process of creating intricate designs. Jennifer is a high school art teacher in Tinton Falls, NJ and exhibits her decorative eggs in the tri-state area.  She has been teaching pysanky for several years in various settings in New Jersey, in addition to the Brattleboro Art Museum in Vermont, the Silvermine Guild Arts Center in Connecticut, the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors in New York State, and the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art.

This workshop is funded by a 2019 NJ STEM Month Mini-Grant with funding generously provided by the Overdeck Family Foundation.  NJ STEM Month highlights the Garden State's incredible accomplishments in science, technology, engineering, math and innovation. For more about NJ STEM Month please see njstempathways.org/stemmonth.

Both retail and service businesses that have a B2C (business to consumer) model would benefit from taking control of their Yelp listing. Learn how to create you free Yelp Business account. That will give you access to valuable data on customer behaviors and let you manage your reputation. The seminar will address what you get for free and the upgrades that you can pay for even before you advertise.

Presented by Saumya Ganguly (Shoumo).  Shoumo brings to the table a perspective acquired over years of solving business problems. His earlier jobs were at PwC, IBM Business Consulting and Cognizant. His clients have ranged from global Fortune 500 companies to Main Street businesses. Over the years Shoumo noticed that his work was being defined by revenue earned and employees managed. This was very different from the job of creating value and solving problems that he had signed up for.

That was when Shoumo set up Obligent Consulting. At Obligent he helps business owners with startup, growth & marketing strategies. Shoumo helps SBDC (Middlesex County) clients to solve their challenges. He gives back to the community by mentoring future entrepreneurs at the CTEC program at Rutgers. He also helps the Woodbridge Downtown Merchants Association with their digital presence.

As always we will also have a selection of favorites as well.

As a note if any of you have any games you would like to play, you are more than welcome to bring them along. Just be ready to explain them to people who may not have played before. Hope to see you all there! Everyone is welcome!

Learn how to grow fresh produce at home through this FREE workshop presented by Karen Kellerman from Master Gardeners of Middlesex County!

This workshop will explore square foot gardening, a type of gardening that concentrates on a small, clearly defined area and incorporates the use of compost.Container gardening will also be discussed. This technique can often give urban gardeners a way to safely and productively grow their favorite crops.

Karen Kellerman is a Master Gardener from Middlesex County since 2015. Kellerman started her gardening endeavors in 2013 with spinach, lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers. Achieving success, she employed the square foot garden approach in 2015 as well as  well as going organic.  Successful, she expanded her growing capabilities to container gardening in 2016.  Kellerman's goals are to provide her family with the freshest, tastiest and most diverse variety of vegetables and to help anyone with a desire to garden!

About Master Gardeners:
Rutgers Master Gardeners are trained volunteers who assist Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES) Cooperative Extension in its mission to deliver horticulture programs and information to the general public. Starts with a tragedy and how the characters handle it in their own way. Story keeps you in its grip and of course there is romance. Nora Roberts as always brings the characters and story location brilliantly to life. A good read.  Woodbridge Public Library Catalog

An interesting look into the world of chefs in New York City, though, fair warning, she did have a rather bohemian lifestyle before coming to the city to learn to become a chef.

Makes you hungry and appreciative of food quality around you. Don't read this when you are on a diet.  Woodbridge Public Library Catalog

I loved listening to this audiobook, as Leah’s “New Yawk” accent was hysterical! She goes into the inner workings of Scientology, which is clearly a cult, and talks a lot about Tom Cruise.

Very entertaining and informative!  Woodbridge Public Library Catalog

Emily Giffin wrote Something Borrowed and its sequels. This novel has a bit more serious drama, much of which involves teenage cyber bullying and its consequences. This is complicated by class differences and privilege. Great read!  Woodbridge Public Library Catalog

This work of fiction is set in Alaska, with its enormous challenges just to survive. Add in some character conflicts (who needs an abusive man when you’re living in isolation?) Great characters, especially strong women. Love this author!  Woodbridge Public Library Catalog

Queen of the beach read, especially ally on Nantucket Island, this is Hildebrand’s first murder mystery. Lots of local flavor, sharp writing, and a dose or two of humor.

The author mentions the bride-to-be’s mother as being an author, washed-up, and on her 23rd book. Wink, wink - a laugh at Elin herself.

Lots of laughs, and drama, and the real question, which is “Who is the Perfect Couple”? And who is the murderer? This will keep you reading until you find out.   Woodbridge Public Library Catalog
